Cross-examining lingering memories as a former baseball player with ruminations at a family funeral, Closer is a meditation on personal identity, memory, and belonging. Fighting inner senses of displacement rooting from an international childhood, Closer adopts baseball’s dynamics as a lens exploring a distant relationship with their father and wider family, negotiating between feelings of alienation and attachment in returning to a foreign home.
