JX Soo (b. 2000):
Singapore-based artist with a practice involving photography + video + text + sound. Raised across Taiwan and Hong Kong and informed by personal experiences of cultural dissonance and transience, my projects are interested in how negotiations between structures of power and memory mine spaces of imprecision and ambiguity, and how they embed and embody themselves within personal constructs of land, boundaries and identity.
I studied Art and Urban Studies at Yale-NUS College, and am an affiliate alumnus at Camberwell College of Arts, University of the Arts London.
I am also a freelance photographer, and music and culture writer. I founded Big Duck, a Singaporean indie music webzine, and freelance with NME – check my byline here!
